About the CMT

The Chartered Market Technician or “CMT” is a professional accreditation developed by the Market Technician’s Association (MTA) designating comprehensive proficiency in technical analysis in multiple financial markets. The CMT is recognized by FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) as the only financial exam to qualify for the Series 86 (Licensed Financial Research Analyst). The CMT exam is offered by the MTA every 6 months and candidates must pass three exams, two multiple choice and one written exam. For more information on the CMT Exam and becoming a member with the MTA, please visit The CMT Program General.
